Senior citizens discovered health and lifestyle mantra in ‘Arogya Katta’

Pune, October 16, 2018: With an aim to answer the queries and create awareness regarding different medical problems, city based Oyster and Pearl hospital (ONP Hospitals) formally launched a platform called ‘Arogya Katta- ONP Health Talks’. The initiative that includes a series of symposiums kick started at ONP Tulip Hospital, Gokhalenagar with a symposium on geriatrics- ‘Arogyapoorna Vardhakya’.

In the event organised by ONP in association with Silver Homes old age home, senior citizens received some enlightening information on various topics regarding geriatrics such as how to accept the changes in the body due to old age, what helps for the early detection of many diseases etc.

Dr Amita Phadnis, CMD, ONP Group of Hospitals said that in today’s times, life expectancy has increased, and we will have increasing numbers of senior citizens in society in the near future. The health of these people is very important and so, it is important to firmly establish Geriatric Medicine as a specialty. Dr. Phadnis talked about the overall health in old age, correlation between mind and body, different stressors in this age and few simple way outs to minimize the stress.

Dr. Satishchandra Gore enlightened the audience on spine issues, spine surgery and care. Dr. Joy Ghose, talked about prevention and early detection of cancer. Dr. Tanmayee Dhamankar gave information about ophthalmic issues, while Dr. Sayali Tulpule talked about vaccination in old age and lifestyle disorders.

Renowned actor Dr. Mohan Agashe was present among the dignitaries. Marking the completion of the first year of Silver Homes old age home, Balewadi, the information about facilities offered at the place was also presented.
